There's a right and wrong way to remove polish. Here's how to do it and avoid those post-polish dry, dull nails:

  1. First remember to:
    Look for nail polish removers that don't contain acetone (it can dry out the cuticle and enamel)
  2. Use 100% natural cotton balls or pads. Synthetic ones don't absorb liquids as well
  3. Now get in the clear:
    Saturate the ball or pad with remover and let it sit on the nail for 10 seconds.
  4. Rock it back and forth a few times, then sweep it off the nail in one swift motion, away from the cuticle.
  5. Don't rub it in - you'll grind the remover and old polish back on your nail bed.
